Apollo 20 Fellows

The Houston Independent School District (HISD) is seeking 250 full-time math tutors for its innovative Apollo 20 project.

Apollo 20 is an urban education initiative of HISD, in collaboration with EdLabs at Harvard University, to significantly turn around chronically low-performing schools in Houston.  One piece of the Apollo 20 project puzzle is high-dosage tutoring from the Apollo 20 Math Fellows. As an Apollo 20 Fellow, you will be helping to turn around nine under-performing schools by providing daily math tutoring to five or six groups of just two students each.

Requirements to become Apollo 20 Math Fellow:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • Possess strong math skills

  • Commit 10 months, starting August 2, 2010

 Participants will receive:

  • Salary of $20,000 for 10 months

  • Benefits, including health-care coverage

  • Performance and attendance bonus of up to $5,000

Please go to http://www.houstonisd.org/Apollo20Tutor for more information and to apply to become a member of Team Apollo. Training starts August 2, 2010.
